Chapter 4 – Living with Gratitude

In his Quick Reflection, Gary Landoll, our Chapter Guide for chapter 4, reminded us of what the chapter taught first of all about faith being a gift from God.  As he concluded he added these comments that are really also a challenge:

“Another important aspect to faith is our free response to God’s gift.  I think it is a natural part of gift-giving for the giver to want their gift to be appreciated.  Developing an “obedience of faith” is our response to receiving God’s gift of faith.  It is having an “attitude of gratitude” which affects the way we live our lives.  I think one of the best ways to show our appreciation to someone who has given us a precious gift is to let the giver see you USE IT.  Let God see you using your gift of faith by learning more about the truths of God through His word and the teachings of His church.  Let God see you trusting in His promise to be with you always, in good times and bad.  Commune with God often through the sacraments and prayer.  Let every aspect of your life be a response to God’s great love for you.”

Before moving on from this chapter, in study and in living our call to conversion in the actions of daily activity, lets ask ourselves, “Does my life show gratitude for faith and how does God see me using this gift?”
